This Privacy Policy explains how Business Empire ("the Game", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you play Business Empire (the "Game"), a mobile and web idle-tycoon game. It applies to every version of the Game distributed through any app store or web build.
We built the Game so that you can play the entire single-player experience without ever creating an account. Cloud save, the leaderboard, and cross-device sync are optional features you choose to turn on. This policy is written to reflect that choice honestly: what we collect depends on what you decide to use.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: information you provide directly, information generated automatically by gameplay, and information collected automatically by the technical services the Game relies on.
Account information — if you create an account or sign in with Google, we (via our backend provider, Supabase) receive your email address, a hashed password or OAuth token, and the display username you choose. If you play as a Guest, none of this is collected and no account is created.
Save data — your progress (in-game currency, properties, upgrades, prestige level, achievements, and similar game state) is stored locally on your device at all times. If you enable cloud save, an encrypted copy of this same save data is also stored on our backend so you can restore it on another device.
Public leaderboard data — if you opt into the leaderboard, your chosen username and in-game net worth are visible to other players. We do not display your email address, real name, or any other account information on the leaderboard.
Diagnostic and crash data — we use Sentry, a third-party crash-reporting service, to automatically capture technical details (device model, OS version, app version, and the state of the app) when the Game crashes or encounters an error, so we can fix it. We configure Sentry not to collect personally identifiable information by default.
Gameplay analytics — the Game includes an internal analytics system that can record anonymous, aggregate events (such as "a player reached level 10" or "a session lasted N minutes") to help us understand which features are used. These events are not tied to your name, email, or any other identifying information, and analytics is off entirely unless a provider is actively configured for your build of the Game.
Advertising data — the Game shows optional rewarded and interstitial ads through Google AdMob. When an ad is requested, AdMob receives your device's Advertising ID (a resettable identifier you control from your device settings), along with coarse device, network, and ad-interaction information, in order to select and measure ads and to prevent ad fraud. Watching an ad is always optional: every reward an ad accelerates is also reachable without watching one, and no ad is ever required to progress. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time from Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Device permissions — if you enable notifications, we schedule local, on-device reminders (for example, "your offline earnings are about to cap"). These notifications are generated entirely on your device and are never sent through a remote push server, and no data about you leaves your device to create them.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information described above only for the following purposes:
To operate the core features you choose to use — creating your account, saving and restoring your progress across devices, and displaying the public leaderboard.
To maintain and improve the Game — diagnosing crashes, fixing bugs, and understanding which features are popular or confusing so we can improve them.
To communicate with you — responding to support requests you send us, and delivering the local, on-device reminders described above if you enable them.
To keep the Game and its community fair and safe — for example, detecting abuse of the username system or the leaderboard.
To show and measure the optional ads that fund the Game — selecting an ad, confirming you actually watched it before a reward is granted, enforcing the daily limits on how many rewards can be earned, and preventing ad fraud.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA / UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your information on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the account and cloud-save features you request), legitimate interests (to maintain, secure, and improve the Game), and consent (for optional features such as analytics and notifications, which you can withdraw at any time from Settings).
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We use a small number of service providers to operate the Game, and each of them processes data on our behalf, under their own privacy and security commitments:
Supabase — provides authentication and database hosting for accounts, cloud saves, and the leaderboard.
Sentry — provides crash and error reporting so we can identify and fix technical problems.
Google AdMob — serves rewarded and interstitial ads to support optional in-game boosts and rewards.
Your device's app store (Google Play or a web browser) — processes basic install and update information under its own privacy policy, entirely outside our control.
5. Data Retention
Local save data remains on your device until you uninstall the Game or clear its storage yourself. Cloud save data, account information, and leaderboard entries are retained for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account (available at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account), we permanently delete your account record, your cloud save, and your leaderboard entry within a reasonable operational period, except where we are required to retain limited records for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Crash and diagnostic data is retained by our crash-reporting provider for a limited rolling window (typically 90 days) before automatic deletion.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You have meaningful control over your own data at every point, without needing to contact us for most of it:
Play without an account. Guest mode gives you the complete single-player game with nothing sent to our servers.
Turn off analytics and notifications at any time from Settings — these toggles take effect immediately.
Delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time from Settings → Account, without needing to email support.
Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us at the email address in Section 11.
Depending on your jurisdiction (including the EEA, UK, and California), you may have additional rights such as data portability, objection to processing, or lodging a complaint with a supervisory authority. We will honor legitimate requests to the extent required by applicable law.
7. Children's Privacy
Business Empire is a satirical business-simulation game rated for a general audience, but its crime-themed setting and fictional depictions of illicit activity mean it is not directed at, marketed to, or intended for use by children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email address in Section 11 and we will delete it promptly.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted network connections (TLS) between the Game and our backend, encrypted storage of authentication credentials, and access controls limiting who can view account data. No method of electronic storage or transmission is ever 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we treat safeguarding your data as a core responsibility, not an afterthought.
9. International Data Transfers
Our service providers may process and store data on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where this occurs, we rely on our providers' standard contractual safeguards and industry-standard security practices to protect your information consistently with this Policy, regardless of where it is processed.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Game, our practices, or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date below and, where appropriate, notify you in-app. Continuing to use the Game after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
11. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, want to exercise any of the rights described in Section 6, or want to report a concern, contact us at bachashai@gmail.com. We aim to respond to all legitimate privacy requests within 30 days.
